I was filling out a questionnaire the other day for a specialized training program where I work and realized that I’ve become a much larger person than I thought…..not in the waistline, but in the range of things I can do. That reassessment of “who I am” is triggered, oh, every five or six years, when I begin to wonder what I’m going to do for income in the unknown future.
Not that I’m looking for (or expecting) changes in my job situation, but from my last post about my car battery and being Rickrolled I know that Ms. Luck or Ms. Unluck can stop by any day. So back to the questionnaire….
After being a Research Scientist I became a professional actor. It was the hardest thing I’d ever done but enjoyed the process of developing a character through study and rehearsals. After that the fun was over, actual performance was not as fulfilling a challenge. But the insight into the development of the human psyche was a great experience.
Now, thirty years later after more successful excursions into other equally difficult areas (becoming a competitive age-group triathlete, marketing for a Fortune 500 company) I’m convinced that desire creates results: you don’t just have to dream about it, you can DO it.
So….here I am with a lot of education and experience (physics and engineering, theatre, biophysics, marketing, speaking, physical endurance) and the desire and ability to show others that they can achieve their dreams. Your capability is limitless; celebrate it!
